Pluses

When I was traveling in June '22, a friend and fellow traveler asked about some of the positives I was experiencing in Thailand, a country he also knows very well.

My reply:

1.  The MRT and BTS are very nice.  Except for one really weird interchange, pretty seamless to use.

2.  Massages

3.  Durian and all the other fruits.  Can't beat it.

4.  Thai food is so varied and flavorful.  You truly could go to one restaurant for an entire year and be happy.  Food back home is boring in comparison.

5.  The heat and humidity force your body to adapt to a more efficient, healthier diet.  And although I have shared examples of a spike in obesity, overall you can more easily maintain a healthy weight in Thailand.

His response:

Good points on transport, fruit, and sweating. Thais usually eat five smaller meals in a day, which may be better for one's  digestion, actually.  A bit of rice and fish, a few veggies, is not bad.  Add the sweat of walking in a humid climate, with shall we say, natural elimination cycles, and yes, one does control one's weight better overall.  The fruit is totally amazing, nearly the worth trip alone.
