Eagle's Nest

In the Spring of '95, I was at the base of the Eagle's Nest with Uncle Jim (Vann) and some other tourists. Unfortunately, we could not go up there that day because I believe they said the fog was too thick. At that age, I knew little about the Eagle's Nest and the Berghof. I enjoyed the movie Valkyrie when it came out. Powerful. Tom Cruise plays the colonel who joined other conspirators to try to assassinate Hitler. There's a fabulous scene in the movie where the colonel is taken up to the nearby Berghof to get a signature from the Fuhrer. Got me thinking about that missed chance to go up there.
