Lesson Learned

This was the 2020 trip we had to cancel due to Covid-19.  We ended up losing $500 to an online ticketing service (will share the name later) that was not going to give us any amount of refund unless we agreed to relinquish $500 to them.  It seemed illegal.  It was either lose $500 or potentially the full $2500 to a "company" that wasn't putting customers first when the shit hit the fan.  They even implied that they might even be forced into bankruptcy.  Our hands were tied.  We decided to get the $2000 back.  I think the biggest lesson we learned is that it's best to pay a little more and go with a more established online ticketing agency.  Even better, buy directly from the airline.  Will we have a Covid again?  Probably not.  Could there be something else?  Anything is possible.  When you pay over a substantial amount of money and then are unable to get it back due to services not being provided, it's not a good feeling.  You lose trust in people and businesses.

On the plus side, I have really planned out an amazing trip to Ireland & Northern Ireland.  My enthusiasm was growing and growing as I was researching it all, which added to the frustration when the pandemic occurred and we had to postpone the trip.  But what I plan to do the rest of this year is use this blog to share some of plans we have.  Hopefully by sharing, it will reignite my desire to one day really do this trip, even if it's a scaled back version.

Our next overseas trip will hopefully be to Thailand the first half of next year.  I also will try to share some of those plans.
