Seville, Day 2

On the day, my cousin and I walked 9.25 miles.  Half of that was covered on our morning walking tour.  The other we did later in the day, on a walk around the Triana neighborhood.

I had gotten a text from a friend, and she asked me how Granada and Seville compared.  My reply:

Granada is lovelier, has the mountain scenery and the rich history surrounding the Alhambra.  Seville, though, seduces you in countless ways:  incredible food, sexy vibe, lovely gardens and parks, easy to walk around, and is a hub for young travelers (older ones, too).  But definitely a younger atmosphere.  The tapas bars are phenomenal, yet not intimidating.

We arrived at this square to meet our guide for the walking tour.  It was one of the "free" walking tours.

This couple from Italy parked their bikes and joined our walking tour.

There are replicas of this tower (Seville Cathedral) and an adjacent fountain in the US city, Kansas City.  In fact, Sevilla and Kansas City are sister cities.

US author Washngton Irving lived a year in Sevilla, and traveled all around Andalucia.  Click here for more.

That's lots of mayo!  One tapas I did not photo was seafood croquettes.  They were so good, we ate first, thought about photos second.

Giolatto - Seville is as good as any I had in Italy.  This trip, and the one last year to Italy, has made me not even want to try ice creams ever again in the USA.  Top 5 Best Ice Cream Shops in Seville, Spain.

Little experiences like this make traveling worthwhile.

I bought the ceramic plate and spoon rest at the ceramics store pictured above.

For dinner, we went to Las Golodrinas, one of the most famous tapas restaurants in Triana.  When you start the video, it should take you right there.  We actually ordered the pork loin tapas, and we got the mushrooms, too.  Very delicious.  And I drank two sangrias!

We then stopped off for churros!

"Did you really have to photograph my wife downing a churros?"
