We got on the bus in Lagos, and 3 h 45 m later we crossed one of Lisbon's magnificent bridges. After arriving at the terminal, we grabbed up our bags, then walked to the metro and took it to Santa Apolonia station. From there, with the use of Jeff's phone navigation app, we arrived at our Airbnb apartment in the Alfama district, "the historical soul of Lisbon."
This turned out to be the closest we'd get to the colorful Sintra castle. I guess we have something to return and do.
Jeff and owner Sumana are standng in front of Tapas do Atlantico, a restaurant we really recommend. It's conveniently located, especially if you are going to or arriving from the Santa Apolonia train and metro stations. The cocktails are good and strong, and the food was quite delicious. But above all, the owners, Pradip and Sumana, a husband and wife team, are the kindest people. Their smiles won us over!
That's Jeff standing by the door leading to our Airbnb. To the left was a restaurant we enjoyed one evening. We got a pitcher of Sangria. I remember that! Click here for restaurant pics. It wasn't one of our best restaurant experiences, so I am not necessarily recommending it. It was very convenient, however. And it had a nice atmosphere.
