We had our morning coffee in Rapallo as we waited for the departure time for the boat that would take us to Portofino. We purchased our tickets that morning - that easy. Once in Portofino, the plan was to begin a hike that would take us to San Fruttuoso, the site of an abbey and picturesque beach. We did it! It was such an amazing experience, and the perfect combination of accomplishment (the hike) and reward (lunch/swim). It took 1.5 hours, and was 2.8 miles. We took the last ferry all the way back to Rapallo. In time. I will add some links to maps and hiking sites that I researched and studied pretty thoroughly before we even left for Italy. The plan all along was to do some hiking, and we wanted to do it the right way. It always pays to do your homework.
The restaurant where we ate is that one with the tan "roof" - La Marina. Reviews online are not very good, but we had a wonderful experience. We were hungry, and that helps. I think it's the only game n town. Bring your own food to San Frutuoso if you prefer. But you won't get those views and a chance to really relax in the shade.
I love this image of Kade. We had gotten back to Rapallo, and gelato was on our minds! It seems like it was on our minds every day!
