Exploring Sam Roi Yot Beach on Bicycle

After almost ten days in chaotic, high-energy, and super fun Bangkok, it was time for some serious R&R. Kade and I went down to The Beach Village in Sam Roi Yot (4 hours south of Bangkok), right at the doorstep of Thailand's first marine national park, Khao Sam Roi Yot, which is where I had planned a few amazing outdoor activities.

We are staying at Beach Village Resort.  The resort has free bicycles, and we rode down to the beach not long after checking in.  It's very quaint here, with lots of coconuts palms, flowers and cattle grazing. Tomorrow we are doing a tour inside the national park.  We will see another beach, hike up to the country's most famous cave (has a small temple in it), and then explore Monkey Island.  Friday we will hike to the Red Mountain viewpoint.  The elevation is not quite as steep as Mt. Pisgah.  In Asheville you hope to see a bear and might see a black snake.  Here you look for monkeys and hope not to see a cobra!  And then there's the heat!   Luckily, our villa's sliding doors open just feet from a gorgeous pool.  I will take a dip this evening.
