I reached the Bangkok Art & Culture Center (BACC) to talk with the artist who's painting my portrait. I paid a deposit. Nearby was a cool cat-themed coffee shop.
After coffee, I exited the BACC and headed for
Siam Center (mall). I was going to walk through it and Siam Paragon to get to the BTS.
I took the BTS to Central Chidlom station so I could check out newly renovated Central Chidlom (Dept Store). Just when I think I can't be surprised by new projects, buildings and activities in Bangkok, it goes to another level. Central Chidlom, a place I've enjoyed for years, has an incredible new look.
Central Chidlom has a walkway that connects to upscale Central Embassy, an enormous complex that includes the 5-star Park Hyatt Bangkok. Of course, the hotel has a super-duper rooftop bar.
"Baby, I'm a Rockstar."
Dining options at Central Embassy are endless. At this oyster bar, I had a very nice conversation with a young lady from Myanmar (Burma). She was very curious about my travels and wanted to know how I could do it. After I shared a little bit, she smiled and said, "You're living a great life." I gave her tips on how she can travel and live abroad.
I made it inside the Park Hyatt. I stopped by briefly at a cocktail lounge, then looked around a bit more. I had a bit of time to kill before the rooftop bar opened.
I've had some very interesting conversations with people - for example, earlier at Central Embassy. I think a few still don't believe I've been to so many rooftop bars. Even Thais working at rooftop bars are very surprised. Some say they didn't realize there were even that many rooftop bars. Several have asked which ones I think are the best. I love little exchanges like this.
