Thank goodness for the BTS, the metro and a good pair of shoes. So much wasted time driving and waiting in traffic. Too stressful, and no time to waste in life.
However, I always liked the ease of jumping into a taxi with kade, especially when we were in love. We could sit closely and let somebody else do the driving.
Those highway rides (in Thailand) are dangerous, and I usually wore no seat belt in back of taxi. Surprised I am still alive.

Now that the BTS (skytrain) and MRT (metro) are expanding, it's even easier to move about. And taxis are still readily available. You can now also use GRAB, their version of Uber. Not bad. And obviously, if you want to leave the city for nearby beaches, you'll have to use a rental car, taxi or bus.
