I was watching a program on Hemingway last night. In it, he was quoted as saying something to this effect: "Unless you intend to take up arms, if you are a guest in a foreign country it's best to let the natives sort out their own affairs." He was referring to the ensuing Cuban revolution. True to his word, though, Ernest did join a resistance group in France during WWII.
