Viva Bangkok

Mango-Passion Fruit Smoothie

How can you beat that?!

I tend to eat a lot of fried calamari in Bangkok.  Viva on Soi 8 usually hits the spot.  You can get a spicy seafood sauce to dip it in if you don’t desire aioli.

After my meal, I was ready to walk Soi 8.

Sheraton Grande (middle) and Terminal 21 (right)

Whenever I saw one, I pulled out my phone camera.

Back on Sukhumvit Rd, I wandered a bit around a secondhand shop.  Didn’t buy anything, but I saw that it had a spirit house.

I jumped on the BTS to get down to Lang Suan Rd.  Time for another rooftop bar!

Everything I saw of this hotel - fabulous.

I'll have to return for that!

The high-rise on the left is One City Centre.  Kade and I went up to one of the top floors.  Views are amazing.  Next year, a three-level restaurant and rooftop bar will open in OCC.  Also in the image is Hotel Indigo - bottom, right of center, dark beige.  Although it looks tiny down there, Hotel Indigo has one of my favorite rooftops in all of Bangkok: Char.

Terminal 21 has the golden spire (inspired by the chedi of The Golden Mount temple).  To the right of it is the Sheraton Grande.

I didn't take many photos of the bar interior and decor - just this area.  There were lots of murals.  Very spacious.  Funky, beach decor.

Zooming Out

The US Ambassador's residence is right down there.  It might have the biggest yard in Bangkok!

Over to the left, with the black top floor, that's Anju Korean Rooftop Bar at Midtown Sindhorn.  I recommend it!

Do you see Banyan Tree Bangkok straight behind it?

This is the US Embassy.  It's my understanding that a new one is being built.

Zoom out.

Zoom in.  Notice the mosque to the right.  And see the temple, or what I assumed was a temple?  When I Googled to find the name of the temple, I discovered it's actually a church built in the style of a Thai temple.  How interesting!

That's a pretty view of Lumpini Park.  And I see Banyan Tree Bangkok, where we will be going to Moon Bar one evening.

After the fun experience at Bar.Yard, I walked back to the BTS.  I had one more place to go, and I needed to be there by 6 PM.

Back on Sukhumvit Rd, I look up and there is Anju Korean Rooftop Bar.  Kade and I enjoyed our visit there.

This is a view from the BTS skywalk.

I took the BTS (skytrain) to Lennon's, a speakeasy bar at the Rosewood Bangkok.

In one room there was a collection of 6,000 vinyls.  Apparently you can select ones to play.

Once I left, I took this image of Rosewood Bangkok from the BTS platform.  Beautiful design.
