First Full Day

We got up early and went by Songthaew to the Warorot Market (Kad Luang), which sits alongside the Ping River.  I had read about a little spot where you can find Chinese donuts and coffee.  We found it!  We also bought some moo ping (grilled pork) and sticky rice.

Orange - where we're staying, Blue - Warorot Market

I bought that Elvis bag and helped my cousin pick out some luggage.

There's a mind-boggling array of things to do in/around Chiang Mai, but what's more important is having a comfortable bed.  This one was heavenly.

After resting most of the afternoon, we decided to walk to Thapae Gate for an early dinner and a look-around.

We had a delicious meal at Thapae Grill.

shrimp cakes

Kebabs: shrimp, wagyu beef, salmon, meatball, Chinese cabbage, corn, seaweed salad

Prime seating!

After dinner, we walked a bit.  This is a branch of the English language school where I worked in Bangkok years ago.

I wanted to find The Writers Club & Wine Bar.  And although we desired only drinks, I couldn't help but be amazed by the extensive dinner menu.  Oh my!

Sorry to do this to you, but this menu is crazy.

I hope you had an opportunity to read the history of The Writers Club & Wine Bar.  I met the wife (co-founder) of the restaurant.  Her British husband died a while back.  You could tell she really misses him!  What a life he led and life they lived together!

Gin Gimlet

Why stop at one bar and one drink?!  We walked on to Drink Rooftop Bar.

Whiskey Sour

Not much you can't do in Thailand!

On the walk back to the hotel, met an older man from the UK who traveled to Thailand in October with his dog and said he/they decided to stay.

We got these gummy edibles on the walk back.  Didn't do a whole lot for me.

Elvis is back home in the USA.
