My plan has been to stop in Tokyo for about a week before continuing on to Bangkok. Kade has never been to Tokyo. I had this idea to get there, then hit the ground running, focusing each day on a food experience.
Food Experiences:
ramen
sushi (morning seafood market, conveyor belt style and high-end)
yakitori (skewered grilled meats)
soba (buckwheat noodles)
wagyu (steaks)
omakase style (up to the chef)
bento box (to take to a park)
sandwiches (breakfast, easy lunch or late night)
katsu (fried chicken cutlets)
karaage (fried chicken)
shabu-shabu (hotpot)
Other Activities:
seafood market (very early in morning, probably first day)
Shibuya crossing
ride the metro
Golden Gai (narrow streets with dive bars)
onsen (hot springs)
the new rooftop experience
day trip to Mt. Fuji
visit at least one garden, one park, one temple
day trip to see Kamakura to see the Big Buddha
