A few years ago, somebody asked for my most unique travel experiences. I quickly came up with these. I probably would revise it a bit.
*walked through Dostoyevsky's apt in St. Petersburg
*attended the viewing of the royal urn in Bangkok (part of Rama IX's funeral)
*found the grave of Jim Morrison in Paris
*took an overnight train from Moscow to St. Petersburg
*spent a summer in Alberta, Canada
*taught English in Uzbekistan
*saw sharks while snorkeling off Koh Tao in Thailand
*toured the Bonn, Germany home where Beethoven was born
*toured Victory Park and Museum in Moscow (WW2)
*stood on the spot where the A-bomb was dropped on Hiroshima
*visited the DMZ between North & South Korea
*had a private guide take me around Hanoi
*sipped a Singapore Sling in the Raffles Hotel
*took a bus with a German girl from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, then hiked in the mountains
*hit all the major museums in Florence
*hiked to the San Francisco glacier outside Santiago, Chile
*went on two amazing walking tours in Buenos Aires
*bought Kashmir rugs in New Delhi and had them shipped back to Alabama
*got stoned on a brownie in Amsterdam and needed Kade to get me back home. And she has a poor sense of direction
*went to a unisex, all-nude spa in the Czech Republic
*was rescued by a Russian ski instructor in Kazakhstan, who then shared hot tea and smoked fish with me before guiding me down the mountain slope
*ate an amazing wild game dinner one evening in Prague
*traveled with my cousin around Southern Spain
