Amsterdam, Day 2

the street where we stayed

a coffee shop we later visited

Tram #1 was so easy to get around on.  Too bad we have gone solely for cars in the USA.  Could be so much better.

The tram took us to Central Station, where we purchased tickets and boarded a train for Zaanse Schans.

I asked Kade what she thought overall about Amsterdam sweets and pastries.  She thought they were on par with those in Florence, but that France reigned supreme.  Pretty much my opinion.

Behind all the parked bicycles is the neighborhood supermarket where we frequently shopped.

We used this tram every day.

Our waiter was a redhead guy who spoke with an American accent, and was super-friendly and helpful.  This was right in our neighborhood, away from the touristy center.

(highly recommend!)

Before going to the fondue restaurant, we walked a bit in Vondelpark.  A lot like the USA or anywhere.  People walking, jogging, getting sun, hanging out with their Significant Others

After a couple of days in Amsterdam, it seemed to me that people in Amsterdam are happier and more relaxed than their Parisian counterparts.  They also have healthier lifestyles - less smoking, more exercising.  And Paris was crazy noisy in comparison.
