The next stop for Liz and Neil was the city Lijiang. Lijiang is a remote Yunnan city with a history that spans 2400 years. The old town section of Lijiang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The predominant ethnic group that settled this area is the Naxi, which is one of 55 minority ethnicities living in China. Naxi traditions, architecture and culture are well-preserved in Lijiang, making the town one of the top tourist destinations. The landscape surrounding Lijiang is captivating, and there's a definite respect for nature among the locals. Below you can see photos of the old town, plus a vista of the entire city itself. Perhaps you can even spot Liz in one of the images! To view some images of the Naxi people, click here.
